Welcome

Welcome! I'm so glad you are here. This is going to be a great spot to get your sports updates like ESPN but from the perspective of a woman. I have to confess I am one of those women who wake up to ESPN's Sports Center and can't start my day until I know the scores from the games I missed the day before. I hope you find this site to be an asset to not only tracking the who's who in sports, but also it will be a spot where you can go to find out what the men in your life are talking about when it comes to sports.

October in the world of Sports

My husband and I were talking about what sports were happening during this time of year and I realized that every sport is currently underway.  Professional Football is in their sixth week, Professional Baseball is in the midst of playoffs.  The American League have played two games and will play number three tomorrow night.  The National League are playing their third game tonight.  Professional Hockey is in the beginning of their season.  Week three is underway with the Capitals on top of the rankings.  NASCAR is going strong with Jimmie Johnson leading the pack by 41 points.

If thats not enough sports for you both College Football and College Basketball are also kicking into high gear.  Football is in its eighth week with Oklahoma State, Oregon and Boise State ranking the top three. College Basketball is in its pre-season but Duke University is projected to start ranked #1.

I'm sure there are more sports going on but those are the biggies.  If you have any questions please let me know.  I will do my best to get back to you with the answer

BCS Countdown Show

Tonight on ESPN they are having the BCS Countdown Show. BCS stands for Bowl Championship Series.  For those of you who are not familiar with the BCS it is the governing body that decides who goes to the five BCS bowl games at the end of the season.  There are currently 35 different bowl games but the big games are the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl and the National Championship Game.  The BCS publishes rankings to determine what team is the best in the nation.  Teams move up and down these ranking throughout the year.  But there is a catch.  Not all teams, school or conferences are part of the BCS.  If you are a Tennessee Vol or a USC Trojan that is not a problem because they are part of a BCS conference.  To schools like Boise State and TCU this is a problem.  Those two teams are not part of the BCS.  The problem for the BCS is that these two schools are presently ranked #2 for Boise State and #4 for TCU.  Both schools are called BCS busters and the media is having a field day with this.  Boise State and TCU met up during last seasons Fiesta Bowl.  The game was electrify.  I was lucky enough to be one of the Boise State fans in the stands during that game.  The final score was 17-10 with the win going to Boise State.  This was the first time that two non-BCS teams played in a BCS bowl game.  It will be interesting to find who will come out on top this year.  Tonight we will find out where it all starts.  Please come back and see the outcome.

Heisman Race

According to ESPN.com as of October 12, 2010 the Heisman leaderboard is as followed:

Terrelle PryorQBOhio StateJr.2362145

You can also see in the same article that there is no case against Kellen Moore of Boise State. Not to be mean, but anyone who has any other candidate ahead of Moore is being ridiculous. Moore is the No. 1-rated QB in all of college football. He plays for the undefeated, No. 3-ranked team in the nation. His TD-to-interception ratio? 14-to-1. He's completing 67 percent of his passes. Is he dinking and dunking? Nope. He averages 14.68 yards per completion. Has the schedule been weak? Not according to the computers. Is he a flash in the pan? Nope, last year he was the nation's No. 2 QB with 39 TDs and just three picks.
